Hősök ezer meséje – Heroes of a Thousand Tales

The crowdfunding campaign for Heroes of a Thousand Tales, the first original game developed by Kalandhorizont Kiadó, has officially launched — and it reached its funding goal in just five days!

The game will be released in both Hungarian and English, and will be available in both digital and physical hardcover editions. The campaign runs until October 20, so it will still be live during MondoCon — where you’ll also have the chance to try the game for yourself on October 17–18!

Heroes of a Thousand Tales is the first Hungarian-developed anime tabletop role-playing game to be published. It is a rules-light, action-focused RPG inspired by shōnen and seinen anime, providing an easy-to-learn framework for creating, playing, and experiencing your very own anime series.

And drama is guaranteed! The game actively supports dramatic storytelling through its mechanics, including the Drama Track, Style Traits, and a special Script Mechanic for major opponents.

Check out the trailer, which is continuously updated based on player feedback and includes a quickstart adventure for beginners. Try it out with your friends, and then share your thoughts — either online or with us in person at MondoCon!

The main goal of the crowdfunding campaign is to bring as many truly cool, classic shōnen-anime-style illustrations into the book as possible. You can already check out three of them on the campaign page:

Helm exhibition

I am a passionate fan of Tolkien’s world, creating book nooks, dioramas, armor, and handmade relics to bring the stories of Middle-earth to life in a tangible way.

In my work, perfection and visual spectacle are not what matter most. What matters to me is capturing the atmosphere and emotions that Tolkien’s works awaken in us.

For me, this is more than just a hobby — it is a shared journey with everyone who is equally passionate about these stories and the legends of old.

Mystic Era

MondoCon is finally just around the corner, and the Mystic Era free photo area is ready to welcome visitors once again!

With Halloween approaching, we’re bringing you a darker, more mysterious style this time.

The photo area will evoke a witch’s lair, complete with spiders, cobwebs, eerie lighting, and a glowing cauldron.

Next to the exhibition area, you’ll find Senga, whose unique, handmade accessories will be available to use during your photoshoots — along with plenty of spooky new creations!

You can also meet Kriszti, who will be offering free makeup at MondoCon.

Our models will transform right before your eyes into creatures born from a dark and mysterious world.

Once the transformation is complete, you’ll be able to take photos of them — and, of course, pose for photos together with them!

Come and join us!

Alkotók Tábora – Creator’s Camp

As All Hallows’ Eve draws near, the gates once again open just a crack toward other worlds… And this autumn, the Alkotók Tábora Foundation will be there to guide you through them.

Deep in the Cursed Forest, the cauldron is already bubbling, a witch’s wand cuts through the air, and something tells us… this year, we won’t be rolling only dice.

Whether you’re a greenhorn adventurer or a seasoned horror survivor, everyone is welcome here — provided you survive the night.

Find us at the Purple Counter, where the witch’s cauldron is smoking away!

At this MondoCon, these are the games we’ll be summoning you into:

  • Dungeons & Dragons 5/5.5E – the classic that never goes out of style
  • Vaesen – Nordic folk horror emerging from mist-shrouded forests
  • Dread – where you don’t roll dice, you pull from a Jenga tower… and gamble with your own fate
  • Fallout – a post-apocalyptic wasteland seasoned with mutants
  • Call of Cthulhu – cosmic horror that will leave you changed by the end
  • My Little Pony – because sometimes even the darkness needs a little rainbow
  • Avatar Legends – elemental powers and inner balance in a magical world
  • Cats of Catthulhu – when even your cat knows that something is terribly wrong in the house
  • Everyone Is John – one body, several insane minds… which one will you control?
  • Cyberpunk RED – a neon-lit dystopia where the horror comes from technology
  • Goblin Quest – chaotic, hilarious, deadly — all three at once

Only at Autumn MondoCon! You’ll also have the chance to try the beta version of Budapest 1899, one of the Hungarian projects featured by the Gamefound RPG Party! A unique, mysterious turn-of-the-century Budapest awaits you — perfectly suited to the Halloween atmosphere!

And if that’s not enough: this year, we’re bringing a surprise photo spot along with the games. The only question is… will you dare to step in front of it?

We’ll also have a special guest: the Lidérc Műhely from Veszprém! Dressed as witches and evil wizards, they’ll introduce the public to their recently opened magical hideaway.

Hokushin Ittō-ryū Hyōhō – Japanese armored showcase and workshop

The Hokushin Ittô-ryû Hyôhô school was founded in 1820 by Chiba Shûsaku Taira no Narimasa.

He was one of the last swordsmanship masters to be honored with the title of Kensei (“Sword Saint”). The school quickly became one of the best-known and most popular martial arts schools of its time, and together with two other schools, it formed the Edo San Dai Ryu Ha (“The Three Great Schools of Edo”).

In addition to long-sword (daitō) techniques, the school also teaches short-sword (shōtō/wakizashi), jūjutsu (unarmed techniques), naginata (halberd), bō (staff), and yari (spear) techniques. Gekiken (撃剣, “striking sword,” or free sparring) is also part of the curriculum. The school has an extensive battōjutsu repertoire, focusing on cutting techniques performed immediately after drawing the sword. Furthermore, the school teaches the wearing of traditional Japanese armor (yoroi) and the execution of techniques while wearing it.

Students of the school played an important role during the turbulent years of the Bakumatsu period and actively participated in some of the final battles in which swords were still used in combat.

Yamaoka Tesshū and Sakamoto Ryōma were also practitioners of the school.

The three best-known lineages of Hokushin Ittô-ryû are the Chiba Dōjō, the Otaru-Genbukan (Noda-ha Hokushin Ittô-ryû), and the Mito-Tōbukan (Ozawa-ha Hokushin Ittô-ryû).

The Chiba Dōjō was founded by Chiba Sadakichi Taira no Masamichi, the younger brother of Chiba Shūsaku. Its headquarters are currently located in Albesried, Europe, and it represents the main lineage of the school.

The current head of the school and its seventh Sōke is Ōtsuka Ryūnosuke Taira no Masatomo.

The representative of the school and the Chiba Dōjō in Hungary is:

Tamás Oláh Kenryū Sensei
Kajō Mokuroku Shihandai
Head of Ryūshinkan Dōjō

Dancing Fairies – Chinese dance showcase

Hi everyone!

We are Dancing Fairies! Our team was formed in 2023 thanks to a university project. For two years, we learned the basics of Chinese classical and jazz dance from Chinese dance teachers.

We can’t wait to meet you all again and take you on a journey into the world of Chinese traditions at Autumn MondoCon!
